Thamarassery is the pulse centre of this Malayoram. It was in 1936, the Thamarassery panchayath was formed. Attakoya Thangal became the first president. P.C Ahemmed Kutty Haji , Soshamma Abraham, K. Moosakutty, C. Moyin Kutty, T.K. Damodaran Nair, M. Balakrishnan Nair, A. Aravindan, V.M. Ummar Master, V.P.Gopalankutty, Suma Rajesh are proudly saved Thamarassery during their tenure as the presidents and now Mrs .Hajara Kollarukandy is the president of the panchayath.

The Thamarassery Diocese was formed in 1986. . Mar Paul Chittilappilli is now the Bishop.` Mary Matha Cathedral which is situated in the heart of Thamarassery ,was established in 1999.

Kottayam kings who were martyred when raising fights against British were attributed the possesses of the lion part of the land of Thamarassery. The amazing and wonderful path from Thamarassery valley to wayanad hill has the scene beauty of nature, Calls of sweet birds, roars of wild animals, Oxygen rich area due to thick forest trees, medicinal plants, mist covered ghat section together provides as a wonderful sight the same area is known as Thamarassery ghat section.

Century old Karadi G.U.P. School is one of the centres of knowledge to the thousands. It was in 1920, Govt. Dispensary was founded to provide treatment to the sick, needy down tredden. Now community health centre will be upgraded to govt taluk hospital soon . Thamarassery Public library opens a vast shore of reading and grasping. It paved a mile stone in the culture growth of Thamarassery. In 1946, a co-operative meeting was held and in which the same library was formed. Sri.P.K.G. Varrier, has been the secretary of the library for over half a century.

The fight of Thalassery kottayam Raja, whose name was written in golden letters in history, Payyampilly Chantus tomb monument is at Thamarassery Kotayil Sree Bhagavathi Temple. Vaduka`s tribe was prominent in this temple who dedicated Vishnu Pradishta. During this time the great Payyan Pilli Chandhu, as the direction forwarded by the Thalassery Kottayam Raja, defeated Vadukas.

THAYMALACHERY which witnessed for a lot of historical turning points, later become Thamarassery. As the valley situated down the great Wayanad hills was called Thaymalassery by the ancients . It was written as Thaymalachery in olden records. It is noticeable that even now it is used as Thamarachery in the stamps of Thamarassery post office. This greenish land down the hills is Thaymalachery.
