Our Malayoram have rich cultural sphere, thanks to active presence of various cultural organizations, political parties and voluntary organisations.They all are contributing immensely Thamarassery ’s social developement and public welfare. There are many organizations in which are working for the promotion of arts and culture.Bharadanatyam,Mohiniyattam,Kadakali,kaykottikkali,Mappila Song, Kolkali, Oppana, Dafmuttu,and puranic drama were have common place in all celebrations.
Before the advent of mordern music and entertinement systems, gramaphone was rarely used in the occasions of wedding and other festivals.The old generation in who used to enjoy the melodies of Mohd Rafi, Kishore and Latha Mangeshkar etc . Still keep their love for the great singers. Cenema and Drama have become the favorite area of interest for the young generation.
Thamarassery Nadanam,and Baradam has been in the forefront by promoting the drama , poetry and other classical items.. Many youth clubs are functioning in Thamarassery. Which are works for various cultural activities. Thus Thamarassery boasts a rich cultural tradition with remarkable contribution by artists and activities.

Thamarassery Public Library is celebrating its diamond jubilee after its six decades of enlightening the society. As a result of the meeting of some letter-lovers, presided by freedom fighter Pichanattu Raman, the library was established on October 20, 1946. The first managing committee included 14 members with P.Jayanthan Namboodiri as the president, the father of PKG Varrior N.P. Sahadevan as secretery. Initially the library was situated at the building west to the old bus stand.
The library became the venue of the arrest of communist leader AKG that made it a historical structure. It was on November 17, 1947 when he was reading newspaper after a party public meeting. He depicted in the visitors diary, “I was arrested here”. Many leaders and writers including K.Kelappan, Uroob, S.K.Pottekkad, the first speaker of India G.V.Mavlenkar have signed in this diary. Started as a reading room with some newspapers and magazine, it was modified into a library in 1948. After a long term of working in a building as rent, in 1991 library transferred into self-owned building.
Now there are 13400 books, and 12 dailies and about 50 magazines reach the library. Hundreds of people come to the library everyday. A library that got grand through Malabar local library Authority from 1951 to 56 and through Kerala GranthaShala Sangham from 1957, now It is an A grade library from 1987. There are about 500 members in the library. The president is Mr. M.BALAKRISHNAN NAIR. Sri. P.K.G. WARRIER , was Secretary for an half century from 1948 to 2004,later as president from2005 to 2008 The library council has rewarded him, who has served as the secretary over 56 years.Now Mr.Muhammed Ali serve the library as secretary.
